Once Christmas is over, it’s easy to just shrug and say “Bah humbug” on January 2. But there’s no reason you can’t enjoy your beautiful home all winter long! Instead of throwing everything away and starting from scratch, try reworking your decor into winter-specific items that will carry you through until spring.
First, strip down to a clean palette and remove any decorations that are clearly holiday-themed, such as stockings, ornaments, and nutcrackers. Then, slowly replace these with non-holiday items that can serve as winter decor, such as wooden candle holders and a simple evergreen wreath.
Neutral colors, such as whites, cremes, and beiges, are a great way to warm up a space without going overboard. Plush wool blankets and throw pillows, wood-exposed decor, and gold accents all work well to help your space transition from Christmas to winter.
Another classic winter decoration is natural elements, like pine branches, twigs, and pine cones. They look lovely in vases and in arrangements on the mantel, and they’re easy to incorporate into your space when you decorate with them.
Incorporating natural greenery, such as pine trees and eucalyptus, adds texture and warmth to a room. This also works well if you have a fireplace, and adding candles or lanterns to the space creates a cozy ambiance for chillier nights.
