The Christmas Onesie Trend is Here to Stay

Whether you’re in the mood to treat yourself or a loved one to a festive onesie, there’s no denying that this year’s seasonal must-have is here to stay. The giant all-in-one romper suit, described as ‘being like being inside a teddy bear’s womb’ by many, has become a major success for stores including Marks and Spencer, River Island, New Look and Debenhams who have all seen their sales soar this winter.

And the trend was given a major boost thanks to the social media craze that was sparked by a family from North Carolina who filmed themselves in their matching red and green PJs. The video went viral causing the hashtag #ChristmasJammies to re-emerge, boosting the popularity of the traditional festive sleepwear for adults and children alike.

Matching Christmas onesies are all the rage this season and one celebrity that has embraced this cute style is country singer Taylor Swift who was pictured posing with her brother Austin in their matching red and green onesies. The pair then topped their festive attire off with coordinating hats, with Austin opting for a Santa hat while Swift wore a brown furry hat with bear ears.

Ugly Christmas novelty knitwear shop Tipsy Elves is also offering a range of fun onesie styles this year, from a cheeky reindeer matchmaker jumpsuit featuring a cameo of two reindeers in a heart that looks broken when the coveralls are unzipped to a naughty jumpsuit emblazoned with Santa clad with three gingerbread men trying to escape his sleigh. The holiday-themed outfits are perfect for hitting the sheets in on Christmas Eve or wearing whilst opening up all your Xmas presents on the big day itself.
